How to donate a car for tax deduction in Utah

8:06:00 PM
If you have a car in Utah that you do not use and do not want to keep or sell, you can donate it to a local or national charity for a tax deduction. The charity must be listed with the Internal Revenue Service as a nonprofit for you to ask for the gift. When requesting the donation on your taxes, you can not ask for the fair market value of the car, which is different from the amount you paid for the car. The fair market value is the price that you would be able to sell the car in your local Utah market.
