The Mesothelioma is a rare and virulent form of cancer of the mesothelial surfaces, which affects the lining of the lungs (the pleura ), the abdominal cavity (the peritoneum ) or the envelope of the heart (the pericardium ). Pulmonary mesothelioma is caused by exposure to mineral fibers (such as asbestos , or erionite [ 1 ] ).

Current studies support the assertion ( odds ratio of 6.6 and relative risk of 5.02) a clear relationship between exposure to asbestos and the development of peritoneal mesothelioma [ 2 ] , [ 3 ] , [ 4 ] .
Some individuals there were presentations on their work, while others were exposed secondarily by family members who, unwittingly, have reduced fiber to the home of their work in their clothes or their hair or on their skin .
Mesothelioma is a notifiable disease in France , health professionals must report it to the doctor of the Regional Health Agency.
